Get SACE is excited to announce its expansion into a new division called Get SACE CPTD which bridges the gap between teachers and professional development providers.
South African schools and teachers have had to rely heavily on digital tools to meet their professional development needs since the outbreak of COVID-19. The pandemic has highlighted the need for accessible and cost-effective further development opportunities. Get SACE CPTD – a soon-to-be-launched, information and service hub, that is free to teachers and schools, is set to meet this need. This online platform bridges the gap between professional development providers and teachers.
Get SACE, over the last 6 years, has supported teachers and schools in their navigation of the CPTD system and professional development. The last two years have seen a significant uptake in the number of teachers using the system as a tool to further their careers and embrace ongoing skills development. After spending years in this space, Get SACE identified the problem that many South African teachers do not have easy and affordable access to the full extent of the activities they can complete to earn CPTD points, many of which are available online. The Get SACE CPTD online platform provides a simple solution to this problem.
Launching virtually on 27 October 2021, Get SACE CPTD will serve as South Africa’s most comprehensive directory of professional development providers; offering a calendar of events, and a hub of resources to South African educators.
Teachers who are looking to earn CPTD points; as set out by the South African Council for Educators (SACE), can use the site to browse and enrol in activities from anywhere, at any time. Through Get SACE CPTD, teachers and schools will be able to access, among others, webinars, workshops, online courses, helpful resources, Q&A sessions, panel discussions, conferences and more informal gatherings which could take the form of Professional Learning Communities.
Calendar events and resources will fall under the following categories: Teaching Tips; Teacher Wellness; Management; EdTech and Innovation; Diversity, Equality and Transformation; Inclusion and Intervention; “The Whole Child;” and Leadership and Development.
Get SACE CPTD aims to centralise CPTD by bringing together professional development providers, teachers, and schools on one easy-to-use online platform. Get SACE hopes to reform CPTD through making quality opportunities easily accessible to South African teachers and schools. Their aim is to contribute to improving the quality of education in South Africa, by nourishing the teachers therein.
Get SACE will be celebrating the launch of the Get SACE CPTD platform on Wednesday, 27 October 2021 at 16h00. Please join the celebration by registering here.
